St. Andrew School is fully recognized according to Policy and Guidelines for Registration and Recognition of Nonpublic Elementary Schools by the Illinois State Board of Education. As such, it meets all criteria set forth by the State Board and has a staff of certified teachers and administrator. As a Catholic elementary school in the Rockford Diocese, St. Andrew is certified by the Diocese and successfully meets the criteria of the Diocesan School Evaluation Process. St. Andrew School follows the Rockford Diocesan curriculum guidelines for Catholic Elementary Schools. Religious education is the cornerstone of the school. This commitment to the religious instructional and formational program
of the school is complemented with a core curriculum of Reading (including Phonics), Language Arts (with Spelling and Handwriting), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Co-curricular instruction is offered in Library, Computer, Art, Music, and Physical Education. The Iowa Cognitive Abilities Test and Test of Basic Skills are given to students in grades K-8 each school year.
